The island’s most iconic ancient site of Lindos is just a 45 minute drive away. Lindos is one of the 3 ancient cities of Rhodes, the others being Kamiros and Ialysos.
Surrounded by crystal clear waters, the picturesque white-washed village of Lindos hugs the jagged rocks on which are perched a medieval citadel, a beautifully preserved ancient Acropolis and the temple of Athena Lindia. It’s well worth the 20 minute walk up the hill to get a real feel for this gem of a town. If you’re feeling less fit, you can always wander the cobblestone maze of alleys – be sure to check out the Byzantine chapel of Agios Ioannis – and explore the many cultural and historical points of interest that await.
